Thank you all for your continued support of the Harford Center.
I wanted to reach out to let you know that we are moving forward at the Harford Center. It is easy to become consumed with the news, COVID numbers, and our own personal responses to this pandemic. At the Harford Center, life looks different, but I can assure you that you are all on our minds. We have “redefined” our service provision. Starting April 13th, many of our staff will be working in the residential homes providing meaningful day services in a very different way. The State is working with providers to ensure that you, your loved ones, and people that you care about are receiving services. Since March 17th, some of our staff have been working in homes providing coverage through a cooperative agreement with many other local providers. I wanted to take this time to thank our Direct Support Professional (DSP) heroes! Our DSP’s are exceptional every day of the week, but they have risen to a level of extraordinary during this challenging time. Thank you all for your sacrifices, kindness, and compassion. Next week, our staff will be reaching out to ALL of you via phone calls, video chats, and other means. Our staff are here to help. While we can’t be in family homes, we want you to know that we are with you in spirit; and through the wonders of technology, we hope to see you face-to-face. We miss all of you and know that this time of uncertainty and social distancing will pass. We will be offering resources on how to talk to your loved ones about the COVID-19 pandemic, how to stay safe, and how to connect with the people that are important to you. While life looks different, it can still be meaningful, and we are here to partner with you in discovering new ways of making that happen.
Take care and Stay Well,
Sherry Nolte, LCSW-C
