Kathie Richardson

I am a native of Baltimore County.  When I married, we moved to Harford County where I have lived for the last 32 years.  I am a mother of two adult children and grandmother to a few beautiful young ladies. Currently I am raising two fur babies.

A student of Towson State, Human Services was the field that I was serious about.  I wanted to work in the Juvenile Justice System.  I was advised Juvenile Justice System was not for me, to investigate other areas.   Once I became a mom, I decided to stay home until my youngest child entered 2nd grade.  I started my job at Sheppard Pratt Health System where I worked with several different departments, including Risk Management, The Forbush School, Nursing Home Programs, finishing up my career working with inpatient doctors and their schedules.   After 28 years I retired, however I was not finished.  I joined The Harford Center in April 2023.  My time here has been the most rewarding and humbling of all.  Seeing the smiles on the faces of the individuals we serve over the smallest of things has taught me more about human services than I could imagine. I was always a supporter of Mental Health; now I am also a huge advocate of individuals with special needs.

On a quirky note, my family and friends have often compared my adventures and my need to take on challenges as “Lucy-isms.” At first, I was offended by the comparison, but now I find it rather flattering.  After all, who doesn’t love Lucy
