Dear Friends of The Harford Center:
Out of concern for the health and safety of those we support, their families, and our entire community, we have made the difficult decision to hold our annual event online this year. While we are disappointed that we won’t be seeing you in person, we must prioritize the wellbeing of those we serve. We hope you’ll join us on October 23rd at 7 PM to celebrate our 60th anniversary and raise funds to support community integration.
Over the last year and a half, we have learned so much about the importance of community. Many of the people we support have medical conditions that make them extremely vulnerable to the effects of any serious illness. As a result, the last 18 months have been particularly isolating for people with differing abilities. Over the last few months, we have been very excited to welcome people back to the center!
As we embrace our new normal, it is imperative that the people we serve be able to re-enter the community as much as possible. Community integration improves physical and mental health, teaches life and social skills, increases independence, and helps to prepare the people we support for employment. Funding for activities and transportation is a critical need as we go into cooler months. As activities move indoors, we will need to keep our groups small, have more staff, and make more bus trips. We are asking that people donate $60 (in honor of our 60th anniversary) to this worthwhile goal.
We will be reaching out to sponsors and ticket holders over the coming days, and we will send out more information about the event as it draws closer. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please reach out to Dinah at firstname.lastname@example.org.
