Re: Response to COVID-19
After much deliberation, consultation with our leadership team, recommendations from the CDC, Dimensional Health Care, and The Health Department, the Harford Center will be suspending its day habilitation and supported employment services effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020 until further notice. We will be assessing the status of COVID-19 and taking guidance from the CDC and DDA in terms of when to reopen. We understand the impact of this decision and do not take it lightly. This decision was made with an abundance of caution in mind. However, in light of the CDC’s recommendation to halt gatherings of 50 or more, we need to make this decision to support the cessation of the virus.
In terms of our staff, many of them will be working with the same individuals in their homes for other providers, such as: The Arc, Richcroft, etc. We are partnering with these providers to provide continuity of care as stability is one of the Harford Center’s pillar values. Further, we value our staff and want to see them have a means to continue receiving income. Unfortunately, we are unable to allow our staff to work in private homes due to insurance restrictions.
Please know that this decision was made with a heavy heart as we will miss seeing everyone’s face each day. However, I am confident that we will return to our day-to-day operations and that the halls and buses of the Harford Center will yet again be filled with smiles and laughter. In the meantime, I wish everyone good health and peace.
