Full Time Transportation Supervisor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Supervises and coordinates all transportation staff

  • Prepares and posts a weekly schedule for all bus drivers and aides each Thursday
  • Fills any vacancies in schedule with qualified program staff
  • Maintains and services facility vehicles
  • Maintains service and maintenance records on vehicles
  • Maintains a clean and safe mode of transportation for clients
  • Assists in the In-service training exercise for transportation staff
  • Communicates safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures to transportation staff
  • Maintains a current file on each client who requires transportation to and from facility
  • Complies with all procedures as it relates to accidents and reports information within a 24 hour period to the ED or his/her designee
  • Acts as contact individual for vehicle insurance for accident reporting
  • Prepares and adheres to an annual budget for transportation costs (i.e. vehicle maintenance and fuel expenses)
  • Approves and submits all vehicle maintenance invoices to Finance Manager within 48 hours of receipt
  • Acts as back-up for transportation and program personnel, if necessary
  • Prepares annual evaluations of transportation staff
  • Monitors all vehicle safety data and provides coaching or disciplinary action as appropriate
  • Assumes all other job related duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee

 Qualifications/Competencies:

 Maintains confidentiality of clients and their records

  • Previous experience transporting individuals with special needs
  • Current CPR and Basic First Aid certification strongly preferred; however, continued employment is contingent upon it being obtained within 90 days of employment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong management skills
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills including written and oral presentation
  • Possess the ability to assist and keep clients safe in any emergency
  • Possess a valid MD Driver’s license with less than 3 points in the last 3 years – no DUI/DWI
  • Possess a positive attitude with a professional presentation and works in a team environment

Education and Experience: 

  • AA or Bachelor’s degree preferred or comparable experience in the field
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to move clients/passengers
  • Ability to move clients/passengers and secure into seats
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Ability to sit and drive for long periods of time
